JUST GONNA STAND THERE AND
WATCH ME BURN, BUT THAT'S ALRIGHT 'CUZ I LIKE THE WAY IT HURTS
___________________________________________Pharaoh's looks aren't something that could be summed up by a simple style. They used to, though -- tight black clothing, piercings, a weird haircut could put him in either the goth or emo catagory, but now, he's practically gone native. Maybe the first thing one would notice would be the feathers. Feathers, feathers everywhere -- because throwing rocks at vultures circling overhead is a hobby of Phar's, he makes good use out of the birds he kills by adorning himself in their hides. Of course, the feathers aren't everywhere, mainly on his head in a Quetzalcoatl-style crown he fashioned out of metal and plumage. The only shirt he owns is a dark grey polo that buttons down the front, which he usually will leave open because of the heat.
As far as pants go, the one pair he has is a pitch black color. They're form fitting, and they were the ones that he has worn since the explosion and war happened. The shirt is, too, really, but it is at least in better shape as far as wear and tear is concerned. There are numerous holes, mostly in the knee area. His right cuff is almost completely torn off -- it hangs in a scrap of fabric that drags as he walks. He might trip over it a couple of times if he isn't careful.
He still owns one gold chain that he got from Will about a year back. It's now tarnished and old, and a bit of the black paint on it is peeling off, but for living in a wilderness like this and having it for over two years, it's in surprisingly good shape. It, along with his wallet, is Pharaoh's most prized possession.
His hair was once very well kept and smooth -- now, it's a raggedy mess. The black dye has still held out, but small flicks of blonde are starting to appear through them. There is a bright blue streak that somewhat blends in with the rest of his fringed hairstyle. Normally it isn't even visible on account of the fancy headgear.
Silence is calming to Ryan, especially when his world has just been turned upside down. It gives him time to think, it gives him a sense of peace in a tumultuous world. Another escape for the Pharaoh, meditation helps him relax. It not only gives him peace, but it helps him forget the world around him.
Rather than speak, Phar will write something cryptic with a stick in the dirt. Many people call him Pharaoh because of this odd trait. He also loves to throw rocks. Weird hobby, right? But, of course, how else would Phar have gotten his awesome headgear than by throwing stones at vultures circling over his head? He's a pretty good shot, too.
Despite what his previous personality was, he is not a conversationalist. He would much rather think silently to himself and observe others than actually talk. In fact, his voice hasn't been fully used since the explosion, so if he ever did talk, it would be in a raspy voice. He hates it when people aren't treated fairly -- Everyone's created equal, and Pharaoh will be the first to let you know that, even though it might make him a bit of a hypocrite at times. His memories, especially of William, are extremely painful, so he hates thinking about them. However, he finds himself drifting back to happier times even though he hates doing so.
He despises thinking about anything that has to do with death, but in a world where very few humans are left, he is forced to face it every day. He was an avid reader, and after the book Lord of the Flies got into his head, his preconceived notion of survival was that he would have to turn into a savage to live, and he doesn't want that. Because Phar had lost his only love a year ago, the wounds in his heart are still much too tender for him to make any real emotional connections with people. This is most likely why he would much rather write in the ground than talk to others.
Obviously, there's nobody else out there for him but William. Even though he has no idea if he's alive or dead, Pharaoh will keep true to his promise and won't forget him.
Pharaoh was born as Ryan Mitchell on December 2nd in New York, New York to Diana and Richard Mitchell. His father was a music education instructor, and his mother was a stay-at-home mom. Because Ryan spent most of his time around Diana, he became closer to her than he did to his father, who was normally disapproving about everything Ryan did with his life. His mother was the one that taught him everything about life lessons that he needed, and he has none other than her to thank.
In the beginning, he had a fairly normal childhood, save for his emotionally abusive father. Richard was the one that always put his dreams down, and so when Ryan entered high school, he wasn't quite sure how to act. He had no guidance, and freshman year could be summed up in one word: hell. However, sophomore year brought a little more consolation. After joining the Thesbian club, he found his true calling -- he wanted to act for a living. His mother, though wary, was happy that he at least had an idea about what he was going to do with his life, but his father was less than pleased. He refused to pay the way to college if that was what he wanted to do with his life, so instead of going to the big school he wanted, Ryan went to a small school specializing in his major to save money.
Here, things changed for him even more. He had never found himself attracted to girls, though he had gone on dates before in high school. Nothing ever really came of them, so when Ryan found himself staring more at a guy than at a girl, it wasn't any surprise. One in particular was William Sanders, a fellow arts major. They started out as friends, and things evolved into more as time went on. They had been together for at least three years by the time they graduated. Will had always wanted to go backpacking across Europe, and Ryan agreed to come with him.
They went to England to start their journey in 2009. However, they got caught in the midst of the explosion. He and Will got separated, and Ryan was flung into a world where to stay alive, he needed to revert back to his original instincts. As time passed, Will was still missing, and as each day drew to a close, Ryan uttered less and less words. He began to write cryptic messages in the dirt with a large stick, and many that passed, thinking they were some form of hieroglyphics, began to call the man Pharaoh. He has practically forgotten his real name now, and much of his original personality has been shattered.JUST GONNA STAND THERE AND
HEAR ME CRY, BUT THAT'S ALRIGHT 'CUZ I LOVE THE WAY LIE
