There are so many ways of helping yourself write a good, lengthy post that it's almost bizarre that one liners still exist. Despite the word count on sites, a lot of people have their own personal goal. Some people aren't happy if their post is less than a certain, self set amount. Mine is around 800, but I know people who aren't happy unless their post is around 15 good paragraphs long. It's all personal choice, and aslong as it meets the 300 word requirement for the site, I don't care how long your post is.
If you really do struggle to make 300 word posts, then this place isn't for you, but if you really want to be a part of the site then this thread is designed to help you. Once you know the tricks of the trade to writing a long post, it's easy, honest!
SURROUNDINGS Don't just take where your character is for granted. Just because your post is in a board, doesn't mean everyone knows how you envision the room, or place, your character is in. Describe it. How is it decorated? Is it tidy or messy? Is there any windows? What furniture? I'm not saying write a 2,000 word essay on where they are, but a few sentences can help to not only lengthen your post but make it more interesting.
CLOTHING Now, no one is going to assume your character is naked (unless you say so in your post) if you don't write abut their clothes, but again it bulks up your post and makes it more interesting. Of course, due to the nature of Pain of Salvation, they arent going to be wearing the newest D&G fashions, but this can help you! How dirty and degraded are their clothes? They're going to have the same clothes that had since the blast and they arent going to be in perfect condition, so this gives you scope to describe. That's the key. Describe everything.
TIME & WEATHER Is it sunrise? Sunset? Around midday? Raining? Sunny? Snowing? A few sentences about this can add some substance to your post and it also gives other people stuff to comment on.
SIMILIES & METAPHORS If you're not sure what these are, full definitions can be found at dictionary.com. Basically, it means comparing things, for example; "The sun was high in the sky, hot on her skin, as if flames were licking at her very flesh." See, it just adds a few more words, and those few words add up in the end. I'm not saying compare everything, but a few things.
THOUGHTS Your characters thoughts are always important to list down. Unless you write them in your post, no one else will know what they're thinking. It can add a little fun, a littler seriousness, and if your character has an ulterior motive, it can show that. And of course, it increases the wordcount. Magic!
